December 11,1937 - September 11, 2024
Wilson Matlack age 86, of El Dorado, CA passed away at home on Wednesday September 11, 2024.
Wil was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and Friend.
Wilson was born in Pennsylvania to Joaquim and Eleanor Matlack and had 4 brothers. They moved to Delaware where he finished High School. His parents and 2 younger brothers followed his oldest brother to California in 1959. Wilson followed in 1960 after he got out of the Air Force.
Wil served in the United States Air Force from 1956-1960 with 2 more years in the reserves. After his completion in the Air Force, he used his training in radio repair to start his career in Electronics.
That is where he met his wife Nancy Cole at work and was married on 12-12-1964. They had 2 children, Son Miles and Daughter Myra. They settled in Cupertino, Ca until 1984. At that time he chose to move his family to Cameron Park, Ca. His employment with Avantek was adding a new location in Folsom, CA and he would be one of the first to move to that location from the Milpitas branch.
Wilson loved to fish and golf as often as possible in the earlier years and mostly the love of golf in his later years. He was on the Avantek league and had many great times and family vacations while being part of that. He was a member at the Cold Springs Golf Course where he had a chance to shine and win the Tournament of Champions one year and the Directors Cup another.
Wilson and Nancy retired in 1999 and moved to Gardnerville, Nevada to begin their new adventures. Then traveled to many places and eventually did a couple of winters as snowbirds in Arizona.
Once there were Grandchildren, they ended up moving back to California to be near family. They had 5 Grandchildren in total. From son Miles and his wife Thiem they had Mary, Mason, and Madison. From daughter Myra and her spouse George they had Chelsey and Gracie.
A couple of years after the loss of his wife, Wilson moved in with daughter Myra and family. He continued to golf until a couple of years ago at which time, he traded in his golf clubs for a slower lifestyle of puzzles and Westerns. Wil loved family get-togethers and holidays. He looked forward to his trips to Red Hawk Casino with brother Paul and niece Holley and visits by family members and friends.
Wilson was preceded in death by his wife that passed on 10-29-2013, his brother Skip, brother John, his parents, and son-in-law George.
