Walter Stanley Keiller Jr. or “Sonny” of Fredericksburg died on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at age 83. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Sonny was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and proud American, serving his country at the US Department of Defense and in his community in church throughout his life.Born in Baltimore, MD and raised in Milton, FL, Sonny attended the University of South Florida and participated in a co-op at Princeton University in a nuclear facility and received a BS degree in Physics. While at Princeton, Sonny heard the good news of the gospel during a television re-broadcast of the NYC Billy Graham crusade and placed his faith in Jesus Christ and became a dedicated student and teacher of the Bible.While in college, Sonny met his bride, Cathy, on a blind date and they married in June 1971. The newlyweds moved to Maryland for work at the Naval Intelligence Support Center in Suitland where they were later blessed with two daughters, Raven and Larissa. In 1990, Sonny was transferred to the Pentagon and he and his family moved to Fredericksburg, where they retired and still reside.Sonny's hobbies include coin and stamp collecting, math, chess, reading, and classical music. Sonny will be remembered as a kind, giving, tenderhearted man, devoted to the Word of God and his family. Sonny had a heart for the lost and a passion for sharing the gospel with all he met and was continually and diligently praying.He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Cathy Keiller; daughters Carrie Keiller of Florida and Raven Keiller of Florida; granddaughters Gabrielle and Josephine Aleshire; brother Richard Snidar (Cheryl) of Arizona; sister Darlene Jordan (Dave) of Georgia; and loving nieces.A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Interment will follow in Laurel Hill Memorial Park.
