In Loving Memory of Vittoria Scarapelli

March 31, 1934 – March 21, 2025

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Vittoria Schiaparelli, who left this world to reunite with her beloved husband, Bruno Schiaparelli, and their cherished children, Angelo Schiaparelli and Annabella Schiaparelli. 

Vittoria’s journey began in Palermo, Sicily, where she was born on March 31, 1934. In 1939, she and her family set sail for a new life in the United States, settling in San Francisco, where she built a beautiful life rooted in love, tradition, and resilience.

Vittoria is survived by her loving daughter, Maria Peretti, who carries forward her mother’s legacy of warmth and devotion. She is also remembered by her adoring grandchildren: Giuseppe “Joey” Schiaparelli, Matteo Peretti, Jennifer Selvaggia, Audrina Scarborough, Rachel Smith, and Maria Mendocino. Her love extended across generations, and she is honored by 14 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

To those who knew her, Vittoria was a woman of strength, beauty, and boundless love—a love best expressed through the meals she prepared and the family she nurtured. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, where laughter and stories were shared over plates of homemade pasta and fresh-baked bread. She showed love through every meal, every embrace, and every sacrifice she made for those she held dear.

A private viewing and requiem mass will be held Sunday, March 23, followed by an open service Monday, March 24.   

Vittoria will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with her loved ones, friends and sisters in the Daughters of Italy, beside her beloved Bruno near their home in San Francisco, California, a city that became the backdrop of their love story and family’s foundation. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the traditions she passed down, the recipes she perfected, and the unwavering love she instilled in her family.

Nonna, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
