Verdia Mae Bray

May 15, 1943 — April 11, 2026

Verdia Mae Bray, 82, passed away on April 11, 2026, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was born May 15, 1943, in Valliant, Oklahoma, to John and Flora Moser.

A lifelong resident of Colorado Springs, Verdia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54½ years, Robert Lee Bray Sr.; her son, Robert Lee Bray Jr.; her grandson Charlie; her parents; and her siblings Jack, Joe, Odell, Jeanie, and Margie.

She is survived by her daughter Janeen (B.J.) Bray; her grandchildren Kathy (Craig), Robert III (Sabrina), Laura, and Brandi; her great-grandchildren John Henry, Tamaya, Minnie, Payton, Ray, Amy, Serenity Rose, Isabella, Emily, and Rosalie; and her great-great-grandchildren Waylon and Ophelia. She is also survived by her sisters Vida, Vada, and Margaret, along with a host of extended family and friends.

Verdia loved her family fiercely, there was never a doubt about where her heart belonged. She enjoyed reading, especially novels by Louis L’Amour, and found joy in the mountains, trips to Cripple Creek, and spending time watching her favorite shows like Walker Texas Ranger.

She was rarely without a cup of black coffee in hand and would proudly joke that her “water intake” came from it, a sentiment she passed down to a couple of her grandchildren. After she retired from Target where she worked for decades, she even brought home some of their large break room thermos’ to keep her coffee in so she always had a cup available.

Verdia lived life her way—strong-willed, independent, and unapologetically herself. She stayed connected with her family through the years, sharing stories, wisdom, and love across generations.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by those who knew and loved her.
