Trudi Katherine (Moore) Nelson passed away with family and a Collier Hospice registered nurse at her bedside at home in Lakewood, Colorado, on October 25, 2024.
Trudi was born on January 28, 1935, in Syracuse, New York to William Franklin and Dorothy Goodwin Moore.
Trudi attended public schools in Syracuse, New York, Rockingham, North Carolina and graduated high school in Cassopolis, Michigan. She majored in English and Religion and graduated in 1956 from Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina. She studied to become a librarian at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill and earned her master’s degree at Syracuse University in New York in 1960.
Trudi worked in libraries at Syracuse University and at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon. She finished her career teaching at the Library School at the University of Oregon.
Trudi married David H. Nelson in Halifax, North Carolina in 1957 and they were dedicated to and proud of their two sons, David E. Nelson, and Kevin A. Nelson. David married Jocelyn C. Estep and had two especially important grandchildren, Elizabeth and James, and Trudi was committed to their growth as individuals and took joy in their endeavors. She loved reading and writing about her observations of family and her world. For Trudi truth and honesty were important in life and the world she lived in.
Trudi was pain free and prepared to pass, leaving us to mourn with good memories and without tangled issues. David and Kevin appreciate the home care Trudi had in the Medicare Hospice program since April and the support they received. Internment of our cremains is planned for Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado. No memorial service is planned at this time. In lieu of flowers consider a memorial donation to a charity of your choice.
Trudi’s life will be celebrated by her family in Colorado, Michigan, New York, North Carolina, New Mexico, Oregon, and Pennsylvania. Trudi valued Peace and Truth and loved her family deeply and was loved in return by her family and friends, many of whom have preceded her departure.
