Obituary

Thomas Edward Cass , born in Greeley, Colorado on August 20, 1945, grew up surrounded by the wide-open spaces of the family farm in Briggsdale. Those years shaped who he was—hardworking, steady, humble, and always willing to lend a hand. He passed away on October 23, 2025, at Jackson Creek Senior Living in Monument, Colorado, held in the hearts of the family who loved him deeply.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Wayne and Helen Cass, his brother Daniel, and his brother-in-law Cliff.

From a young age, he learned the rhythm of farm life—early mornings, long days, and the quiet satisfaction of a job done right. That upbringing stayed with him forever, guiding the way he moved through the world.

In 1963, he proudly joined the U.S. Navy, serving aboard the USS Ranger during the Vietnam War. His service was not just a chapter of his life, but a point of deep pride, shaping his sense of duty and the steadiness he carried into every role that followed.

In 1965, he married Georgeanna Bunting, and together they welcomed three children—Scotty, Jolynta, and Wayne. He loved taking his kids out to the farm where he grew up, sharing with them the places and memories that meant so much to him.

In 1968, he began his career with the Denver Fire Department, a calling that fit him perfectly. For 27 years—through long nights, difficult calls, and moments that asked everything of him—he served with courage, loyalty, and quiet strength. He retired in 1995 as an Engineer, respected by those who served beside him.

In 1982, he married Renee Bair, who brought two daughters, Angela and Tracy, into his life. His family grew, and he embraced every part of it.

After retiring, he returned to Greeley in 1999 and began working with Kreps Wiedeman Auctions & Real Estate, Inc., staying connected to the people and community he cared about.

He is survived by his son Scotty and his wife Liz; daughter Jolynta and her husband Scott; son Wayne and his wife Sherry; daughter Angela and her husband Jared; and daughter Tracy.

He loved his grandchildren:Tanner; Vanessa and her wife Amaya; Benjamin and his wife Chrissy; Mekennah; Julia; Daniel; Michael; Maddelynn; Connor; Keith; Katie; and Caden.

His great-grandchildren are Milah and Elijah.

One of the quiet testaments to his character was the way he devoted himself to spending time with his mother, tending to her with patience and love until her final days.

“Dad proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy before becoming a devoted firefighter and first responder with the Denver Fire Department, where he was known for his bravery and compassion.”

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Briggsdale Fire Department.
