He is preceded in death by his parents, Calvin & Madeline Harms and his eldest sister, Janice Gates. He is survived by his adoring wife of 48 years, Betsy, his 3 children Tiffany Atkinson (Mike), Bettina Harms-Sturgeon (Dave) and John Harms, 6 grandchildren Taylor Bemis (Joey), Dominic Dhooge II (Jordan), Tatum Howard, Chase Howard, Samantha O’Connor (Kelsey) and Brandon Straughn, 1 great-grandson Dominic Dhooge III, 2 nephews Stephen Gates (Adriana) and Stuart Gates (Elizabeth), 2 nieces Stephanie Lawson (Jason) and Calleine Harms and his younger sister Barbara Harms.
Terry grew up in Higginsville, Missouri where, as a child, he enjoyed participating in the FFA and showed prized Yorkshire pigs. After completing High School he moved to sunny Southern California and joined the Army National Guard where he served for 9 years and developed his passion for firearms. Terry was a true patriot that loved his country. It is here that he met his wife Betsy while attending a car show with a Corvette Club he belonged to (although his Corvette was a 1975 El Camino!!). After a short romance they were married on December 31, 1976, and moved to Betsy’s home state of Arizona where he fell in love with all it had to offer (camping, hiking and hunting to name a few).
Terry plied his skill as a Master Carpenter where he worked his magic with wood to the delight of many clients, friends and family over the last 50 years.
He loved his family fervently and was loved by all who knew him. He was a kind soul that will be GREATLY missed.
