IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Terri L.
Vrooman
September 10, 1963 – January 9, 2026
Terri Lynn Vrooman was called home to her Lord, Friday January 9th after battling COPD for years. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing.
She was born in Gloversville on September 10, 1963 to parents Helen and Arnold Meyers, and grew up in Mayfield with her siblings, Denise, Andrew, and Deborah. She attended Mayfield schools and after graduating, met, fell in love and married Gilbert Vrooman. They spent the next 43 years building their life together in Fultonville.
Terri dedicated herself to being a mother, raising her three children Melissa, Peter, and Elizabeth, as a stay-at-home mom for a majority of their childhoods. She was ever present on school field trips, where she would pack enough food for the entire class “just in case”, on the sidelines of soccer fields whether as coach or crowd, in the stands of basketball games, and in the audience of many, many school concerts. She showed up each and every time, no matter how many miles away, and made sure she could be heard from wherever she was.
Throughout her life, Terri enjoyed gardening and could be found barefoot in the soil as she weeded, watered, and waited for growth. She also loved Christmas and would take great care to decorate her house from top to bottom.
Terri was active in the Fultonville Reformed Church until its closing in 2023, serving as co-treasurer for years. Here, her passion for feeding people, and serving the community, something that was important throughout her life, made an impact on those around her. Anyone who walked through her door was welcome at her table and would never leave hungry.
Terri’s greatest joy came with a promotion and new title, “Mamedo”. She was a devoted and adoring grandmother to her six grandchildren: Kieonna, Joe-Si, Korbin, Ceaira, Harleigh and Arnold. She would make time for them anytime, and loved reading with them, playing Yahtzee, and baking cookies, especially Christmas cookies to decorate together. She was an avid supporter of their endeavors, cheering from the stands as she was able, or from home when she was unable to travel.
Her family trusts that her father, Arnold Meyers, was ready to welcome her home after many years apart with a cold beer and a fishing pole.
Terri is survived by: her mother, Helen Meyers; her husband Gilbert Vrooman; her siblings, Denise (Gary) Montoney, Andrew (Carla) Meyers, and Deborah (Robert) Palmerino; her children, Melissa (Jonathan) Hopkins, Peter Vrooman, and Elizabeth (Ralph) Swartz; her six grandchildren, and her great granddaughter, Madalyn, as well as nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind Brenda, her soul dog who misses her terribly.
The funeral will be held Monday, January 19th at 12 PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger and Stewart Family Funeral Home 15 Main Street Fultonville, NY. The family will receive visitors starting at 11 AM-12 PM.
Anyone attending is invited to a luncheon at the Fonda Reformed Church Hall on Main Street in Fonda, NY after the services conclude.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks instead that donations be made to St. Jude’s which Terri supported faithfully, or a donation to your local food pantry to feed your neighbors as she was called to do.
