Susan Harvey Whitworth

February 12, 1947 — October 7, 2025

Loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and Faithful Servant of Our Lord

Susan Harvey Whitworth, 78, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025. She was born February 7, 1947, and was a proud native Floridian, born and raised on Amelia Island.

Susan grew up surrounded by the beauty of Florida’s coast. Her family spent their days boating, fishing, walking the beaches, and enjoying the freshest seafood the area had to offer. Some of her fondest memories were of sitting beside her father on a boat in the Atlantic, fishing for hours. Those early days shaped her lifelong love of Florida’s tranquil shores and magnificent wildlife.

Over 50 years ago, Susan moved to Englewood, where she built a life grounded in service, faith, and family. She worked as a registered nurse for more than 25 years at Venice Hospital and Englewood Hospital. After retiring from nursing, she began a second career as a Realtor.

Susan’s care for others extended far beyond her professions. She had an unwavering love for her family, her faith, and anyone in need. For the past decade, she devoted herself to the Englewood Food Pantry, spending countless hours ordering food, coordinating deliveries, and overseeing distributions. Whether it was day or night, if someone needed help, she was there.

She adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her community with all of her heart. There was nothing she wouldn’t do for anyone, and that love was returned to her many times over.

Susan is survived by her children: Robert (Barb) Whitworth, Keith (Petreccia) Whitworth, and Melanie (John) Mitchell; and by her grandchildren: Jessica (Scott) Gillet, Briana (Brian) Daw, Justin Whitworth, Dakota (Megan) Leahy, Jeanette Whitworth, Robby Whitworth, Taylor (Jacob) Mitchell, Colton Whitworth, Charlee Whitworth, Kristina Savage, and Alex Dunn.

She is also survived by her great-grandchildren: Kory Gillet, Ariel Gillet, Eli Gillet, Logan Bowles, Amiyah Carter, Addisyn Daw, Amitie Grady, Jayden Leahy, Blake Daw, and Zyan Gordon.

Additionally, she is survived by her sisters Mary Ellen Wexler and Vivian (Stew) Salchow; her brother Bill Harvey; her brother-in-law Charlie (Jenny) Maki; her nephew Chris (Debi) Maki; and her nieces Stephanie Torres, Emma Salchow, and Cristiana Salchow.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ernestine Harvey; her brother, Russ Harvey; her sisters, Anne Harvey and Elaine Maki; and her grandson, Austin Daw.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Living Hope Church, 881 S. River Road, Englewood, FL 34223.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Englewood Food Pantry in Susan’s honor.
