Sherwin “Pops” Grey Owl was born on December 8, 1946 in Stephan, SD to Beatrice  Grey Owl. Sherwin made his journey to the spirit world on April 20, 2024 at his home in Thornton, CO surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and niece Debbie. 

Sherwin attended Immaculate Conception in Stephan, SD for grades 1-12. Upon graduation from high school in 1966 he enlisted in The United States Army and was stationed in Germany before he served in The Vietnam War. He was Honorably Discharged in 1972. During his service in The US Army Sherwin served in The 25th Infantry Division “Tropic Lighting” with MSO 12 Bravo “Combat Engineer”. 

When Sherwin returned to The States he attended The Seattle Central Community College where he earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree in Business Technology, Accounting Major. Sherwin also attended The Community College of Denver.  Upon completion of college he found employment in Seattle and later in SD where he worked at Crow Creek Tribal Schools as the Business Manage and the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Crow Creek Sioux Tribe. Fun Foot Thompson SD after numerous times of back n forth between the few, Sherwin returned to Denver where he lived further on and retired from the US Postal Service in 2009.  

Sherwin was a avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his sports on the TV. He would often make comments like “now there's nothing to watch” when the games were over. He enjoyed listening to his powwow music and old western country. But most of all he enjoyed the company of his loved ones. 

Sherwin is survived by his sister Marcella (Fabian) Howe of Harrold, SD Numerous nieces, nephews, grand-children, great grand-children, and great-great grandchildren. 

Sherwin was preceded in death by his mother Beatrice Grey Owl, Sister Merna Grey Owl, Brothers grandparents; Alexander & Jean (surrounded) Grey Owl, 

1 Night Wake and Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 @ 7 pm

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday May 1, 2024 @ 10 am
