Scott Flynn

September 7, 1953 — September 6, 2023

After a nearly 10-year battle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma, Scott Flynn passed away at home, surrounded by his wife, daughters, and brother on September 6, 2023. Scott was born on September 7, 1953 in Austin, Minnesota to Jean and Bob Flynn. Scott attended Memorial High School in Eau Claire and graduated with the class of 1971. He spent his career selling health and life insurance, primarily at The Insurance Center where he was a mentor to many. In 1989, Scott moved to Hayward and proudly had the first pontoon and jet ski on Nelson Lake. In 2008, Scott married Kay McIntire, and the two enjoyed 15 years of love, laughter, and travel together. Scott enjoyed snowmobiling, pontooning, and entertaining old and new friends. He often said, “When you get to live on Nelson Lake, why would you want to go anywhere else?” He loved the Packers, a proper Wisconsin brandy-old fashioned, and watching movies with his family. Scott lived a full, wonderful life and his generosity, lively spirit and compassion for others will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He will be remembered for his charm, his storytelling, his ability to make friends wherever he went, and the way he lived his life to the fullest. Scott is survived by his wife Kay Flynn, his daughters Caitlin and Mackenzie Flynn, stepsons Kyle, Ryan, and Scottie McIntire, brother Mike Flynn, and sisters Debbie (Marc) Christianson and Helen Benning. In honor of Scott's life and legacy, there will be a private ceremony for family, followed by a public celebration of life on Sunday, September 17th, at 2 PM at the Sawmill Saloon in Seeley, WI (13505 N US Highway 63). All are welcome to join as we come together to celebrate his remarkable life and share stories and toasts. As Scott has long requested a joyful celebration of life, attendees are encouraged to wear bright colors (particularly Hawaiian shirts). His family would like to express sincere thanks to his hospice caregiving team at Essentia Health for their devoted care, and his Nelson Lake family for filling his days at home with laughter and handmade signs. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to either Bob’s House for Dogs, or Save the Children in Scott's memory.
