In Loving Memory of Sammy L. Sanchez Sr.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sammy L. Sanchez, who left us on January 23, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Albuquerque, NM, on November 4, 1948,
Sammy was a beacon of love and inspiration to all who knew him. Sammy dedicated 59 wonderful years to his beloved wife, Pearl. Together, they cultivated a life filled with joy, laughter, and a treasure trove of memories. As a devoted father, he instilled the values of love and resilience in his daughter Phyllis, son Sammy Sanchez Jr., and daughter Natalie. His legacy lived on in his 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
Sammy was not only a family man but also an inspiring figure to his family. He was an embodiment of generosity, sharing his talents and time with anyone in need. Always equipped with a toolbox and willingness to teach, Sammy loved working with his hands. His skills in woodworking, mechanics, and home repair were unmatched. Whether it was fixing a car or crafting a piece of furniture, there wasn't a project he couldn't tackle, and he took great pride in his work. His passions extended beyond craftsmanship. Sammy had a deep love for music, singing, and dancing. His infectious laughter and great sense of humor left a lasting impression on all who crossed his path. He truly lived life to the fullest, treasuring every moment spent with his family, especially with his grandchildren whom he adored.
Sammy is survived by his cherished family: his wife Pearl, children Phyllis (Brian), Sammy Jr., Natalie (John), his siblings Lillian (Florencio) Lucero, Efren (Shirley) Sanchez Jr., and Lorraine (James) Chavez, alongside numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Efren Sr. and Mary Sanchez, as well as sisters Nancy Sanchez and Mary Torrez.
A celebration of Sammy's life will be held at The Experience Church, located at 2820 Broadbent Pkwy Suite A, Albuquerque, NM 87107 on Monday February 23, 2026 at 10am.
In honor of Sammy's spirit, let us gather to remember a man who inspired us through his generosity, curiosity, and unwavering love for family. As we say goodbye, we remember Sammy with his famous question "who loves you?." His memory will continue to live on in our hearts, reminding us to embrace life, love fiercely, and laugh often.
