IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sally L.
Vannostrand
October 2, 1937 – November 5, 2025
Sally L. VanNostrand, 88, passed away Wednesday, November 5, 2025 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born October 2, 1937 in Gloversville, NY to the late Emmett "Zip" Cranker and Irene Wilson Cranker Biron. She attended Mayfield Schools. She worked for the Leader Herald delivering bundles of papers to carriers throughout the city for many years as well as trimming leather for Potter’s Leather Co. She was also an avid member of the Foresters Club in Gloversville where she helped with club activities. She was a member of the Riceville Homestead.
Sally was a housewife for most of her life. Her entire world revolved around her children, grandchildren, and beyond. When Sally was not participating in their activities she would be found preparing food for all to enjoy. She loved cooking! Her family fondly remembers many of the delicious Sunday Suppers she prepared such as roast beef, always provided by her friends at Bowmans Meat Market, along side macaroni salad, chocolate mayonnaise cake and Santa snacks. Sally was a "Ma" and “Gram” to many people outside her own family. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch with friends and family as well as Sunday afternoon rides in the Adirondacks looking for deer.
She is survived by her husband Douglas, son William Sr. (Jennifer), daughter Jodi (Tim) and son James; grandchildren William VanNostrand, Jr.(Clyde & Brooks), Dane Dillenback, Emily VanNostrand, Jimmy Holmes, Jenea Hayes, Sheyann Eagan, Austin Eagan, Joshua VanNostrand, Peyton (Samuelson) VanNostrand, Tiffany (Patrick) McSpirit, Amanda VanAllen, Steven VanAllen, and Ami VanAllen; as well as several great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Sally is predeceased by her daughter Deborah K. VanNostrand Holmes, brother Terry W. Cranker, and grandson Peter C. Bleyl.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Sally's name may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice.
