Obituary

Rudy Chacon, 85, of Gilcrest passed away Saturday, January 24th, 2026, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Rudy was born October 20, 1940 (or the 26th until he turned 62) in Gilcrest to Carmen and Paul Chacon. After the death of his father, he went to work in the fields to help support his family. Rudy continued to work at various jobs in construction, Monfort, and retired from Golden Aluminum in 2002.

Rudy married the love of his life Rosie in June, of 1958. Together the couple raised 6 amazing children in Gilcrest. Rudy continued to be a hardworking man until he was no longer able to. Rudy loved to listen to music, dance, garden, fish, camp, work out, run, and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their athletic competitions. He and Rosie traveled to many destinations, including Mexico, Costa Rica, Aruba, and took many Mystery Trips.  In his later years, he loved spending time at his home where he hosted many family gatherings.  On his farm he could be seen walking the perimeter with his 5 dogs, who followed him everywhere, pulling weeds, driving his little red truck, driving his tractor, and raking leaves up until this past October.

Rudy is survived by his wife Rosie Chacon, and children, Loretta (Ken) Garcia, Arlene (Frank) Ramriez, Mary (Eddie) Jimenez, Veronica (Chris) Martinez, LaVerne (Don) Huston, and Paul (Michelle) Chacon. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, Savannah, Meagan, Lauren, Derrick, Eddie, Tyler, Erick, Charles, Brittany, Zach, DJ, Cody, Courtney, and Brendan. 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Rudy is survived by his brother Ruben (Virginia) Chacon, sisters, Dora Alvidrez, and Helen Olivas and sister-in-law Blanca Chacon. He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, John Chacon, Antonio Chacon, Rebecca Regalado, Mable Tapia, and Tony Villegas. Brother in laws Leo Garcia, Carlos Alvidez, Stan Olivas, and sisters-in-laws Mary Chacon, and Bobbi Villegas.

The Recitation of the Rosary will be held at Adamson Life Celebration Home on Sunday, February 1st at 5:30 pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am Monday, February 2nd at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Platteville. Interment will follow at Mizpah Cemetery. There will be a reception at St. Nicholas following the interment.
