IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Lloyd
Johnson
November 15, 1953 – November 15, 2024
Richard Lloyd Johnson passed away at his home in Sun City Center, Florida on November 15, 2024, on his 71st birthday.
Born in Brookly, NY on November 15, 1953, Richard grew up in Staten Island, NY. Then he spent much of his life between the Lake Wallenpaupack region of northeast Pennsylvania and the Tampa Gulf Coast region of Florida. He attended Richmondtown Preparatory School and Tottenville High School in Staten Island, NY. He graduated from Wallenpaupack High School in Hawley, PA.
Richard is survived by his brother Glen Johnson of New York City, his sister Karen Johnson Histed (KJ) and brother-in-law Edward Histed of Melbourne Florida. Richard is predeceased by his parents, Lloyd Richard Johnson and Evelyn Martha Johnson, along with his beloved son, Joshua Johnson.
Richard was a building contractor in his younger years in Pennsylvania, then continued a career in the building industry in Florida as a gifted draftsman in architectural firms, and as an inspector for Pasco County Florida where he became FEMA certified.
With a passion for Florida outdoors, Richard loved SCUBA, canoeing, boating, and fishing. He always managed to head north for a ski trip in the winter or a summer visit to his brother's home on the Lackawaxen River in the Pocono Mountains for tubing and kayaking.
If there is one thing Richard really loved in life, it was his dogs, to whom he dedicated himself.
A celebration of his life will be held this summer at Glen's river home in Rowland PA, date to be announced.
