IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard E.
Dorman
March 13, 1942 – December 27, 2025
Richard E. “Dick” Dorman, Sr., 83, of Gloversville, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, December 27, 2025.
Born on March 13, 1942, in Gloversville, Dick was the son of Jesse “Bill” and Esther (Briggs) Dorman, both of whom predeceased him.
Dick devoted his entire working life to construction and in the local leather tanneries, finishing his career at Pearl Leather, in Johnstown where he retired in 2017.
A lifelong resident of the area, he loved the outdoors—especially hunting, (original member of the Good Time Hunting Club), camping, and riding motorcycles. Some of his happiest moments were spent with his son at The Bleecker Fish and Game Club, Ephrata Rod and Gun Club, The Sprite Club and The Concordia Club, where they met up with “the guys” and shared countless memories, laughs and stories over a few beers. His presence at these clubs will surely be missed.
On August 24, 1963, he married his beloved wife, Marjorie “Marge” Edwards. They shared 57 years of marriage before her passing in February 2020. Together they raised four children: Richard “Dickie” Dorman, Jr. (Maureen) of Arizona; Robin (Darrell) Coon of Meco; Deborah Dorman (Carl) of Gloversville; and Joseph (JoAnn) Dorman of Johnstown.
Dick was the proud grandfather of three grandsons—Bret, Kyle, and Joseph Dorman, Jr.—and great‑grandfather to Riley, Jesse, Regan, Aurora, and Chase Dorman.
He is survived by his sister, Carol “Katie” (Gene) Strenkowski of Schnectady, his brothers Michael and Everett Dorman, both of Gloversville; and his in‑laws Michael (Toni) Edwards, Larry (Linda) Edwards, and Linda (Kevin) Wood. He was predeceased by his brother Leon “Porky” Dorman and sister‑in‑law Joanne “Beanie” Wood. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no formal services. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring of 2026, with the date to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
“Dick‘s kindness, generosity, and willingness to always help his family, friends and sometimes strangers, will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. Rest in peace, you will be deeply missed!
