Renee Marie Dierks

September 12, 1944 — December 22, 2025

Renee Marie “Tootie” Dierks, 81, of Chandler, Arizona, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2025. Born on September 12, 1944, in rural Sumner, Iowa, Renee lived a life rooted in faith, compassion, and service to others.

Renee was the daughter of hardworking parents who instilled in her a love of family, faith, and community. After pursuing her education in nursing, she achieved her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse, a calling that allowed her to live out her lifelong dedication to helping others.  In addition, she also supported the family farm and taught CNA courses at the local community college.

On August 8, 1965, Renee married the love of her life, James “Jim” Dierks, at Hope Lutheran Church. Together they built a marriage of commitment and faith that served as an inspiration to many. Their union was blessed with three children, Darrell (Jill Dierks of Maynard, IA), Lisa (David Newberry of Chandler, AZ) and David (Kathryn Dierks of Iowa City, IA); 8 Grandchildren and 4 Great Grandchildren. She is survived by her siblings, Danny Lang, Betty Sanger, Mary Steen and preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jim Dierks.

Renee found joy in simple things—gardening, crafting, volunteering, and participating in church activities. Her hands were rarely still, always busy creating beauty or helping those in need. Her faith community was central to her life, serving at Holy Trinity in Chandler, Arizona, and at St. Paul in Maynard, Iowa. Renee also lent her time and warm heart to Hidden Treasures, thrift store, in Chandler, where she was cherished by friends and fellow volunteers alike.

A service celebrating Renee’s life will take place on January 9 at 1:30 p.m. in Chandler, Arizona at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, with a second gathering planned for the Maynard, Iowa, area around May 2026. Renee’s legacy of hope, determination, and unwavering faith will continue to shine brightly in the lives she touched.
