Obituary

Raymond Alvarado Jr, 72 years of age, passed on Friday May 9th, 2025 at Banner North Colorado Medical Center, Greeley Colorado.

Raymond was born January 15th 1953 in Longmont, Colorado, to Raymond and Justina Alvarado.  He was the oldest of four children; two brothers (Alex & Ed) precede him in death.  Raymond grew up in Frederick, CO and graduated from Longmont High School in 1971, He continued his education at CU Boulder.

Raymond married the love of life Kathleen, in 1974.  They moved to Greeley when Raymond began his employment at Eastman Kodak Company in Windsor.  Raymond was employed at Kodak as a Process Engineer from 1976, until he retired in 2013.

Together with his beloved wife Kathleen, their Catholic faith was a central part of their lives. Raymond exerted himself to the fullest to provide the opportunity to accompany Kathleen on a pilgrimage to Rome & the Holy land.  Raymond was also a member of Knights of Columbus – Greeley, Colorado Council 2160.

Raymond was a Photography Aficionado; a hobby of much passion kept him quite busy creating memories for many weddings, baptisms, Quinceanera's, graduations, birthdays, etc.… Our families have the good fortune that Ray provided troves of memories for everyday family gatherings.  He always had his cameras with him.

Raymond and Kathleen have two children Rachel, and Michael.  Ray & Kathy also raised their two oldest grandsons, Matthew and Isaiah.

Raymond was a passionate, kind, selfless, nurturing soul. He loved his family, family gatherings, photography, music of all genres, reading books, watching movies and watching sports.  He was a storyteller, like no other. A night of pleasant conversation & reminiscing warmed the soul.

Raymond lost his beloved wife of 47 years on November 8th 2021.

He is survived by his children:  Rachel Ontiveros, Michael Alvarado.  Grandchildren:  Matthew Alvarado (Jadyn), Isaiah Alvarado, John (Jay Jay) Ontiveros, and Anthony Hill.  Great Grandchildren: Aiyanna Alvarado,  Mother:  Justina Alvarado, Sister : Jo-Ann Alvarado (Michael Godere).  A host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Raymond is also about to welcome a great grandson, Avery “Raymond” Alvarado .  We expect to welcome our new namesake addition June 16th, 2025.

Visitation will be 5pm - 7pm at Adamson Life Celebration Home on Monday June 2nd, 2025

Rosary followed by Funeral Mass will be at 9am on Thursday June 12, 2025 at St. Peter Catholic Church with reception afterwards.

Graveside service at Linn Grove Cemetery will follow the reception.
