Obituary

Philip Leo Johnson, 77, peacefully passed into heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus, on June 11, 2025. He was lovingly surrounded by his family at his home in Windsor, Colorado. Born on January 14, 1948, in Wiesbaden, Germany, he was a loyal husband to Debra Johnson and a loving father to Val, Jacque and Brian.

Dad was a kind and selfless person who put others first. He spent 31 years working as a teacher and coach, where he was known for his infectious smile, uncanny sense of humor and “the PE teacher that always had the gym open.” Most of all he was a basketball coach who loved sharing his wisdom and knowledge of the game with anyone who wanted to get better and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Johnson, Robb and Val Wetta, Jacque Morgan, Brian Johnson, and sister, Carol Goodson, as well as his grandchildren Kindyll and Ali Wetta and Owen and Madison Morgan. Finally, our dear friends who we consider family Greg Johnston and Ben Morgan.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at Rocky Mountain Calvary, Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pathways Hospice, https://pathways-care.org/give-now/ , cancer touches almost everyone at some point in their lives. Hospice was an absolute blessing to us as we navigated the past two months.

We find comfort in knowing that Dad's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.
