Klempa
March 11, 1942 – March 1, 2025
Paul J. Klempa, 82, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Capstone Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing.
Born on March 11, 1942, in Gloversville, a son of the late Ernest and Doris (Blood) Klempa. A 1959 graduate of Gloversville High School, Paul then went on to Hudson Valley Community College. Paul worked as an electrician for General Electric and then went on to work for Beech-Nut until his retirement in 2005. Paul and Donna also ran the Crossroads Restaurant in Johnstown from 1983 to 1988.
Paul, alongside his loving wife, Donna, were residents of Gloversville until 1983 when they moved to Johnstown. In 2005, they moved to Nebraska to be closer to grandkids, who they proudly were able to help care for. In 2012, they moved back to Johnstown, where they have resided since. Paul ran for Mayor of Gloversville in 1976 and lost a tight race by 400 votes.
Paul was an avid bowler, and a longtime member of the Fulton Co. Classic Bowling League. He was also a member of the Fulton County Bowling Hall of Fame. He also was an avid golfer and in his younger years, a softball player in Meco and various other parks locally. He had a hand in helping to build the Meco softball field as well. Paul was very proud of the fact that he had a perfect 300 in bowling, as well as a hole in one in golf.
Survivors include his loving family, his wife, Donna (Cromer) Klempa; stepdaughter, Gina Brand and her husband Michael of Gloversville; daughter, Karen Horning and her husband James of Plant City, Florida; son, Paul Klempa and his wife Leanna of Lincoln, Nebraska; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; two nephews and a niece. Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, John Klempa and sister, Judith Ann Klempa.
