Patricia Karen Janes

Patricia K. Janes, age 82, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026. She was born in 1943 in Chicago, Illinois, to Harry and Elsie Gillen. Pat spent her life rooted in family, fiercely independent in spirit, and unforgettable to all who knew her. She was a devoted and beloved mother to her four children: Joe (Tammy) and Sandy, Kathy, Mike and Debbie, and Jeffry. Her legacy continues through her nine cherished grandchildren - Johnny, Nicole, Jenny, Christopher, Sarah, Michael Jr., Emma, Cohen, and Asher and her eight treasured great-grandchildren - Connor, Logan, Lydian, Penny, Ava, Edie, Gabe, and Dakota. She was preceded in death by her older siblings - Harry Jr., Bernard, Richard and Marilyn. Her family was her pride and the center of her world.

Patricia was known for her sharp wit, strong personality and competitive nature. She had a lifelong love of games, whether it was Bunko, bingo, bowling or watching her favorite game shows like Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. She didn’t just play games - she played to win. A familiar and memorable presence at her local bingo hall, Pat never shied away from speaking her mind. Her playful smack talk, spirited debates and unapologetic authenticity made her both formidable and beloved among friends and family alike.

She had a unique way of engaging with the world - bold, direct and often humorous. Whether holding court at family gatherings or delivering her signature one-liners, she brought energy, laughter and honesty to every room she entered. She lived life on her own terms, never backing down and never fading quietly into the background.

Patricia will be remembered for her strength, her humor, her competitive spirit and her deep love for her family. Her presence was larger than life and her memory will live on in the stories shared, the games played, and the family she built. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
