You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure

Olivia Virginia Warehime Perine — our beloved Libby — was born on November 3, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Helen and Willard Warehime. A proud Baltimore native with bright blue eyes and a spark that could not be dimmed, Libby’s story was anything but ordinary.

A whirlwind wedding to the love of her life led to a brand-new adventure in California, where she transformed from a Baltimore girl into the ultimate California girl. With her long blonde hair, perpetual tan, and a bikini as her unofficial uniform (even after four children — as she loved to remind her daughters, she never gained a pound), Libby lived boldly and unapologetically.

She was a truth teller through and through. You always knew exactly where you stood with her. Her sharp wit and fearless honesty could sting, but her humor softened the edges and made even the hard truths easier to swallow. Libby was larger than life — the kind of woman who felt like a character straight out of a movie.

She was a wonderful cook, famous for her birthday cakes — always moist, always delicious, and made with love. Her energy was endless. She loved animals, faithfully fed the birds, and never met a creature she didn’t have a soft spot for, except cats.

In her later years, even a COPD diagnosis could not slow her down. You could find her in a perfectly matching pajama set, watching her favorite show, My 600-lb Life, amused by the irony that she could eat anything she wanted and never gain an ounce.

Libby leaves behind her partner in crime of 57 years, four children, their spouses, ten grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. But more than anything, she leaves behind a lifetime of stories, laughter, honesty, resilience, and unforgettable memories.

We will miss her voice, her spirit, her sass, and her love.

We’ll miss you, Mom.
