Thomas Edward Ryder of Chestnut Ridge, New York died Sunday, January 19, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, New York.

Mr. Ryder was born in the Bronx, New York on December 3, 1935.  Mr. Ryder also lived a number of years in Haverstraw, New York.   Mr. Ryder served in the New York State National Guard, was a New York City Firefighter for 29 years and longtime school bus driver with Haverstraw Transit.  He was a lifelong New York Yankees and New York Giants fan.

He is survived by his children Thomas F. Ryder (Cynthea), Karen Ryder, MaryEllen Weeks (Ernie) and Maureen Lyons (Thomas) and grandchildren Sean, Erin, Julia, EJ, Ashleigh, Leah and Michael; and his sister, Margaret Clinton.

Visitation will be at T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home at 71 North Central Highway Garnerville, NY on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery at 650 Saddle River Road, Airmont, NY on Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 12:00 p.m.
