IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sean Patrick
Laffey
March 14, 1993 – May 27, 2025
Sean Laffey, 32, of Manhattan, NY, passed away suddenly on May 27, 2025. Born in Nyack, Sean was a larger than life, one of a kind force of nature who lived life fully and unapologetically. He made his home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with his wife, Stephanie, and their beloved French Bulldogs, Meatball and Gnocchi—just steps from Central Park, where they spent many of their happiest days together.
Sean and Stephanie’s love story began before college, when they met as teenagers. He later transferred to Penn State during sophomore year to be with her. While at Penn State, he joined Phi Who fraternity and built lifelong friendships with many of the brothers who have remained central to his life.
Sean worked as a technician at Mason Technologies and brought intensity and dedication to everything he did. He was passionate about weightlifting, indulging in the bougiest restaurants, walking the dogs around the city, and deep diving into long audiobooks & podcasts about fitness and history. He had a wild spirit, a laugh & accent nobody could forget, and the kind of presence that took up the entire room. Tough and brutally honest, but with a soft heart for the people he loved most, Sean had a taste for the finer things and was always unapologetically himself.
He was looking forward to traveling to Ibiza and Mallorca this summer and Lake Como next year. He had been training hard at the gym, working hard at work and was excited to start a family with Stephanie in the near future.
Sean is survived by his wife, Stephanie Laffey; his mother Chrissy Laffey and stepfather Brian Joachim; his grandmother, Michele; his mother-in-law Rachel Yelin and father-in-law Darren Yelin; his brother-in-law Jake Yelin and sister-in-law Remy Yelin; and many loving aunts, uncles, and friends who cherished him. He was preceded in death by his father Alan Laffey and his sister Shannon Laffey.
A wake and funeral will be held for those who knew and loved Sean. Flowers may be sent to T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Donations are not being requested at this time.
The best way to honor Sean is to laugh. Tell the ridiculous, hilarious stories. Share memories of this larger-than-life human being. Send good vibes, spend time with his family—especially Stephanie and Chrissy—and take care of your health. He would want that. Sean lived loudly, loved fiercely, and left behind a legacy of intensity, generosity, and heart. He will be missed more than words can ever say.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 from 3pm-7pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, 10am at Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point, NY followed by a private cremation.
To send flowers, please call Bassett Flowers at (845) 634-3638.
