Obituary

Nicholas Michael Gokey, 28, was a beloved son, brother, partner, and friend. Nicholas is survived by his father, Michael, his partner, Michelle, his older sister, Alexandra, her husband, David, his younger brother, Christian, and Nicholas’ partner, Ana Eliza - all who will carry his memory forward with deep love and gratitude. He was also a loving Uncle Nicky to his nieces and nephew: Bella, Lily, and Theo. Nicholas is now reunited in peace with his beloved mother, Jeanette.

Nicholas graduated with his bachelor's degree in Biology and a minor in Neuroscience at Northeastern University. He then furthered his education by completing his Masters in Medical Science at Yale School of Medicine’s Physician Associate Program. Nicholas’ unwavering work ethic continued as he worked demanding 12-hour shifts - day and night - caring for cardiothoracic surgery patients and helping them return home to their loved ones at New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital.

As a person, Nicholas was compassionate and dependable. With his friends, he was the first to listen without judgement, or to check-in. Though a stranger to others, he was always the first to help. One would often lose him in a crowd, only to find him carrying heavy luggage up subway stairs, opening doors for people, or stepping in during emergencies. Nicholas was the person everyone turned to for help - whether navigating the toughest study struggles, when needing an ear, or when needing to get an important task done.

Nicholas was a proud nerd: a Harry Potter-loving, LEGO-building dreamer who found joy in the little things. He loved cooking, golfing and playing video games with his friends and family. He was a loyal fan of the New York Rangers and the New York Jets, steadfast through every season - win or lose.

Nicholas lived a life defined by service, kindness, and quiet strength – and all who were lucky enough to know him are better for it.
