Mirta Rodriguez, 95, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025. She was born on March 29, 1929, in San Antonio de los Baños, Havana, Cuba. Mirta lived a happy life defined by grace, resilience, and kindness.  In 1969, Mirta left Cuba and made the United States her new home with her husband, Celestino, and daughter, Maria. Settling in New York, she built a life filled with love and purpose. A talented seamstress, Mirta brought beauty and care to everything she created, her work often reflecting the warmth and sweetness of her spirit.  Those who knew Mirta will forever remember her as a gentle, kind soul who greeted everyone with a warm smile and heartfelt gratitude. She touched countless lives with her generosity and her unwavering ability to make others feel special.  Mirta is survived by her loving daughter, Maria, her son-in-law, Rafael, her cherished grandchildren, Julian and Sarah, and her precious great-grandchild, Lillian, and soon to be born, grandson. She also leaves behind her beloved sister, Teresa, nieces and nephews, extended family, and many dear friends.

A service to celebrate Mirta's life will be held at McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY on Wednesday, February 12 at 4:00-8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 13 at St. Peter's Church in Haverstraw, NY at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Mirta's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, a cause close to her heart. Mirta's legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and will forever be remembered with love.
