Marita Ramundo Buffone, of Wurtsboro, NY, peacefully entered into eternal rest surrounded by her family on July 11, 2025. She was 67 years old. She was born in Suffern, NY on May 23, 1958, and resided in Garnerville, NY for many years before moving to Orange and Sullivan Counties. Marita graduated from Albertus Magnus High School and attended Lady Cliff College, following in her mother’s footsteps. She received a Paralegal degree from Marist College and built a career in Administration and Human Resources, primarily in Assisted Living for Seniors. Marita was employed by The Promenade Senior Living in Middletown, NY at the time of her passing where she had made many friends whom she considered family.

Marita married Christopher J. Buffone on August 14, 1999 and enjoyed spending time with her husband, particularly their annual vacations to Myrtle Beach, going out to dinner, to the movies and seeing live music together. She also shared a passion for crocheting in recent years and found comfort in crafting beautiful handmade gifts for her family and friends. Marita also loved recreational photography and watching the Yankees and the New York Giants. Some of her favorite memories were sojourns to Yankee Stadium with her husband and children. She enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren and often spoke of them anytime she could. As she wore optimism on her sleeve, and brought laughter and comfort to all, Marita will be missed by everyone whose lives she graced, as many who knew her will concede that she was unique.

Marita is survived by her devoted husband Christopher J. Buffone, her daughter Christine M. Licari (Brian), her son John Michael V. Licari (Kerry), her granddaughters Kylie Edwards and Lennon Licari, her brothers John F. Ramundo Jr. (Patty), and Robert Ramundo, her two sisters Eileen McKenna (Michael) and Lisa Ramundo, brother-in-law Michael Burns, several nieces, nephews and extended family. Marita is pre-deceased by her parents John F. Ramundo Sr., Dorothy Brownell Ramundo, her sister Betty Ann Ramundo Burns, her nephews Nicholas Ramundo and Benjamin McKenna.

A wake and memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at T.J. McGowan & Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: https://gofund.me/b51e76ea .
