Margaret T. Hyman, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, neighbor and friend passed away peacefully at home on August 7th, 2024 . She was born on January 5th, 1930 in County Mayo, Ireland to Barthley and Mary Mahon. Margaret was born and raised on a farm in Lahardane and bravely immigrated to New York City as a teen to join her sister. Margaret married the love of her life, James Hyman, and moved to Rockland County in 1973. After a full career, Margaret retired from Letchworth Village and OTB. Margaret's greatest source of joy, above all, was her love for her family. She cherished backyard barbecues, family dance parties, Sunday dinners, holiday gatherings especially Christmas, Irish music, sporting ,musical, dance or theater events cheering on her treasured grandchildren. Margaret is survived by her beloved children Vincent, Una (John), Margaret (Arthur), Kathleen, Maria (Kevin), Patricia (Joe), and Teresa. Along with her cherished and adoring grandchildren John (Liz) & Luke, Alexandra (Scott) & Nick, Darius (Emma) & Eric Jr., Jennifer & Sarah, Michael & Olivia, Clarissa & Joey. In addition, Margaret is survived by her best friend and sister, Kathleen Kerr, her beloved brother, Sonny Mahon, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom she loved dearly. Family and friends will honor Margaret's life on Monday, August 12th from 4-8PM at the T.J. McGowan Sons Funeral Home 71 N. Central Highway Garnerville, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Margaret on Tuesday, August 13th at 11 AM in St. Gregory Barbarigo Church in Garnerville, with interment to follow in the Fred Loescher Veterans Cemetery in New Hempstead. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Margaret's memory to the Marian Shrine Salesians of Don Bosco, 174 Filors Lane, Stony Point, NY 10980.
