IN LOVING MEMORY OF
James M
Anderson
September 12, 1957 – September 17, 2024
James Michael Anderson of Stony Point passed suddenly on September 17th at Good Samaritan Hospital. James was born in 1957 to Peter Anderson and Jeanette (Grall) Anderson-Feeney in West Haverstraw, NY. The Anderson family later moved to Stony Point where James attended St. Gregory Barbarigo school and North Rockland High School.
After graduation he attended RCC before transferring to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute earning a degree in Mechanical Engineering. From there he spent the rest of his working life in the electric power industry, ultimately retiring from New York Power Authority as a plant manager. Along with his professional achievements, James was an avid hiker, boater, skier, and reader. When not busy helping friends and family with various home improvement needs, or working on his cars, he enjoyed renovating his own homes regardless of the scale of the project.
James is predeceased by his brother Stephen, brother-in-law James Aldridge, nephew Scott Aldridge, both parents, and step father James Feeney. He is survived by his sisters: Nancy, Mary Tonjes (Tim), Jeannine Anderson-Aldridge; brother David; sister-in-law Kristine Anderson; step sister Frances and step brother Jim. He was a proud and beloved "Unca" to James Peter & Andrew Aldridge; Ben (Rebecca), Luke (Jessie); and Tim Tonjes Jr. (Amelia); Will Anderson; and great-uncle to Eva Aldridge, and Henry, Sadie, and Zeke Tonjes. Also left behind are a host of Cotton, Faust, Heubner, & Lawless cousins and their spouses and many children.
His immediate family will welcome visitors from 2-6 pm at McGowan's Funeral Home in Haverstraw, NY on Sunday, September 29th. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 11 am on Monday, September 30th at St. Peter's Church, also in Haverstraw.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Democratic National Committee or New York - Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center.
