Francis Edward "Frank" MacMillan

December 21, 1947 – May 9, 2025

Francis Edward "Frank" MacMillan, of Stony Point, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old.

Born on December 21, 1947, in Washington Heights, NY, Frank was the beloved son of Edward and Margaret MacMillan and one of five siblings—Suzanne (Daniel), Jack (Patricia, deceased), Mary, and Gerard (Cecilia). He grew up in a vibrant, close-knit household that instilled in him values of loyalty, perseverance, and thriftiness.

As a teenager, Frank met the love of his life, Catherine, while frequenting her father's neighborhood establishment—a chance connection that grew into a lifelong romance and friendship with her father. The two were inseparable ever since, sharing 56 joyful years of marriage and building a beautiful life grounded in love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

By age 13, Frank had already distinguished himself as the youngest Eagle Scout at the time—a remarkable achievement that foreshadowed a life of dedication and service. He attended Incarnation School in Manhattan and proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in a medic unit during the Vietnam era.

Frank and Catherine raised three children—Frank (Deborah), Aimee (Nino), and Daniel (Meghan)—and built a legacy centered on family. He was the proud grandfather of eight—Sierra, Kacey, Luke, Robert, Jenna, Megan, Ryan, and Andrew—and the beaming great-grandfather of Isla. He lovingly nicknamed each one and was a constant, enthusiastic presence at their events, games, and milestones. He even coached Little League championship teams, always the loudest and most encouraging voice on the field.

A lifelong athlete and lover of the outdoors, Frank ran marathons, played racquetball, golfed whenever he could, and cherished days spent fishing or soaking up the sun. He loved to watch movies and had an uncanny ability to recall scenes and lines from them. He was a true "man's man," happy when surrounded by buddies over poker, lunch, or a long walk down the fairway cracking jokes. He also had a deep love for The Beatles and classic rock, which could often be heard playing wherever he was. His dancing skills always brought the party alive.  He loved dogs, had a passion for history, and never passed up an opportunity to have a good time. He and Catherine shared many wonderful vacations together, especially in their favorite getaway spot—Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, Florida, where they enjoyed dancing together under the stars.

Frank enjoyed a successful first career as a sales manager for RHP Bearings before making a bold and meaningful midlife shift to become a Registered Nurse. He went on to work in some of New York City's most prestigious hospitals, serving with compassion and strength in emergency rooms, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, cardiac, cancer and AIDS wards, and ultimately with the Visiting Nurse Service of NY, bringing home healthcare and dignity to those most in need.

Frank had a legendary gift for storytelling that was funny, vivid, and always from the heart. His great sense of humor lit up every room and left everyone laughing. Whether with family, friends, coworkers, or strangers, he had a way of making people feel welcome, entertained, and seen.

A man of faith, Frank was a devoted parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Stony Point. His strength, warm heart, free spirit, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered and cherished always.

His legacy lives on in the people he loved, the lives he touched, and the stories that will be told for generations.

He will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at TJ McGowan Sons Funeral Home in Garnerville, NY. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 15, 2025, 10am at Immaculate Conception Church, Stony Point, NY, followed by interment at Fred Loescher Veterans Cemetery, Spring Valley, NY.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Franks memory to PGA HOPE at https://www.pgareach.org/pgahope To donate by check, make it payable to:
