Edith A Griffin (nee Penteck), of Haverstraw, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 25, 2021. She was 85 years old. Edith was born in the Bronx, NY, on August 6, 1936, to William and Mary Penteck, 1 of 11 siblings. Edith married the love of her life, Daniel Griffin, on February 10, 1962, and together they raised 3 children. Edith's favorite job, of over 20 years, was being a Deli Clerk in ShopRite of Pearl River NY. Edith enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and her greatest joy came from her 9 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, whom she loved to show off to everyone. Edith is predeceased by her husband, and 4 brothers and 4 sisters. She is survived by her 3 children: Jo-Ann (Robert), Daniel (Christine), and Denise (Lawrence), as well as her grandchildren Michael (Courtney), Christopher, Kerri, Samantha, Hannah, Haleigh, Kathleen, and Laura, and her great grandson, Ryan. Edith is also survived by 2 sisters Eleanor and Carol, and her sister in law Mary, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Edith's Mass of Catholic Burial will be on Friday, November 5, at 11:15 am, St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, in Garnerville, NY. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made in Edith's name to the American Cancer Society.
