Obituary

Denis McDaid, age 65, affectionately known as "Mad Dog" for his fearless spirit and competitive drive, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2025. Denis was born November 5, 1959 in Chicago, IL to Denis and Sarah ("Sally") McDaid. Denis' life was a testament to resilience, kindness and unwavering commitment to those he loved.

Denis is survived by his mother, Sarah ("Sally"), brother Neil, sister Teresa (Carroll), cherished nephew Bob (Emily), beloved great nephews, Robert and Collin, cousin Martin (Marion), godson Robert, lifelong best friend and chosen brother Bob (Laura) as well as many cousins and friends.

Denis grew up in the Bronx, was a proud graduate of All Hallows High School and later moved to Stony Point, NY. After high school, Denis dedicated 37 years to a career with Coca-Cola where he was known for his integrity, dependability and tireless work ethic.

A devoted NY Giants fan, Denis rarely missed a game. He also had a passion for golf playing every chance he got. On any given Sunday, it was almost guaranteed that you would find Denis at Patriot Hills Golf Course.

Denis will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. He will be remembered for his strength, his humor and the intensity with which he approached everything he loved, from football to family. He leaves behind a spirit that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, May 4th from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at T.J. McGowan's Funeral Home, 71 N. Central Highway, Garnerville, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, May 5 at 11:00 AM at St. Gregory Barbarigo Church, 21 Cinder Road, Garnerville, NY, followed by burial at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY.
