Nell Berdine Druyff, age 96, passed away, surrounded by love, December 3, 2024 at Bright Assisted Living in Windsor, CO.  A celebration of life will be held at the First Lutheran Church, 402 Graefe Ave., Ault, CO 80610  Friday, December 13th, starting at 11:00.  Food and fellowship will follow.

Born October 22, 1928 to John and Dorothy Wooddell, Nell Berdine was the 3rd generation to live at the family farm located near Prairie City, Iowa.  She attended Maple Grove country school through her elementary years and graduated from Prairie City High School in 1946. She met Arris Druyff, Jr. after he returned from duty after WW2 and they were married June 9,1950.

The young couple welcomed their first son, Jim in 1951 and Mark in 1961.

Nell Berdine worked as a secretary during her working years, notably as secretary to the school principal for the Bondurant-Farrar school system.  This presented occasional problems for her sons as they had to pass her desk on the way to the principal's office.

A job transfer for Jr. in 1972 led the family from Iowa to Sterling, Colorado.  It was there that they embraced all that the state had to offer, traveling to all corners of the state.  Many lifelong friends where made through church and family reunions.  After retirement in 1986 the move to Ault, Colorado was made to be closer to the mountains.  Retirement offered more time for travel and winters in Yuma, Arizona where more friends were made.

Nell Berdine was always active in church activities, using her piano skills and volunteer sprit.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, ceramics, genealogy  research and rooting for the Broncos and Rockies.

Survived by sons Jim (Linda), Mark (Donna), grandchild Jennifer Gastrock (Brian), Donna's children Amanda and Dustin, and great grandchildren Cooper, Grace, Bennett, Coleton and Sawyer Jo. She was preceded in death by her husband Arris Druyff, Jr., sister Gay Verdine Haney, and daughter in law Lorraine Druyff.
