Obituary

Michael Archie Rhoton passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 2, 2025 surrounded by his two children, ex-wife, nephew and sister-in-law.

He was born September 13, 1956 in Rock Island Illinois to Sydney and Josephine (Holton) Rhoton. He moved to Colorado when he was three years old. He graduated from North Kuwasaki adult high school in Okinawa Japan after joining the Marines. He was in the Marines for two years and in fall of 1975 he met Edith Balintucas in the Philippines at the age of 19. They married shortly after in January of 1976 and welcomed their son TJ on November 21, 1976 in California. On July 5th 1979 they welcomed their daughter Jocelyn in Colorado.

He was employed from 1980 to 1990 at the Public service company of Colorado, Fort St Vrain Nuclear Generating station as a classified mechanic nuclear fuel handler. From 1990 to 1995 he was the owner and operator of M &R roofing. From 1995 to 1998 he was the foreman for Collins construction. 1998 to 2003 he was a machinist/millwright at infinite machining. From 2004 to 2005 he was the lead man at Adarand Constructors. In 2005 he was initiated at Pipefitters Local 208 Denver and remained there until his retirement.

He is proceeded in death by his parents Sydney and Josephine Rhoton, his two older brothers, Johnny Rhoton and Billy Rhoton and his older sister Mary Davis. He is survived by his two children, Terry Johnathon Rhoton, Jocelyn Michelle Rhoton ’Grisham, and his granddaughter Shiloh Anne Grisham. He is also survived by his two nephews Chris and Shon Rhoton and 3 nieces Jenny, Sherri and Terri.

He will be remembered for his wonderful laugh, sense of humor and personality. He loved his tea and soda, red vines and gummy candies. He’s a self-proclaimed professional bass fisherman and was a Harley Davidson man all his adult life, entering and winning bike shows. Sadly, he was unable to ride his beloved soft tail Harley the last few years due to health problems. He enjoyed yearly hunting trips to the family spot with his nephews. He was also an avid Texas hold ‘em poker player, winning tournaments and bringing home prizes.

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Flatirons community Church Denver, Colorado at 9 AM August 8. Followed by a burial at Fort Logan national cemetery with full honors at 11:30 AM.
