Michael I. Colby, 64, of Gloversville, NY passed away Tuesday, November 18, 2025. He was born April 20, 1961 to the late Irving Colby, Jr. and Peggy (Dunham) Colby.

Michael loved cooking and using his smoker, especially for his family. He enjoyed bowling, especially with his two boys, and spending his time outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting with his friends and family. Michael had a passion for adventure and freedom and was most at home on the open road with his Harley and especially loved his rides with his nephew Zachary. He spent many years at 21st Century Mechanical, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and willingness to lend a hand wherever it was needed. Recently retired, Michael was able to share many Thursday morning “Retired Men’s” breakfasts at Jackie’s Diner with his brother’s in-laws Scott and Paul, and grandnephew Parker.

He is survived by his two sons, Alexander Colby and Adam Colby; daughters Kristina Hart (husband Richard, their daughter Sophia) and Kiera Kennedy (sons Mason and Maddox); sisters Cindy Colby and Kelly Colby-Giudilli (husband Paul Giudilli); brother Richard Colby; brother-in-law Scott Graham; nephews Nicholas Graham, Zachary Graham, Connor Phelps, Gareth Phelps, and Kellen Phelps; nieces Alana Phelps, Devan Eagan (husband Will), and Logan Martin (husband Cecil). Known as “Grandpa Santa” to Sophia and “Uncle Santa” to grandnephew Parker Eagan and grandnieces Emery and Eloise Eagan, and Josephine Martin, they all survive and miss him greatly. Michael’s extended family and friends will miss the gentle spirit that was Michael.

In addition to his parents, Michael is predeceased by his brother, Ronald Colby and sister Bonnie Graham.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Michael's name may be made to Toys For Tots.

Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 from 9 AM to 11 AM at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville NY. A service will take place at 11 AM at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. RW Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville NY. We ask that those so inclined to join us on your motorcycle for Michael’s final ride from the funeral home to his resting place at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Gloversville.

A Celebration of Life will be held immediately following burial service at the Berkshire Fire Department. Arrangements have been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Homes.
