Melissa Sue Oliver Gallup, 55, of Mayfield, NY, passed away after a short illness on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at Albany Medical Center surrounded by her loving family.

Melissa was born on March 5, 1969, in Gloversville, NY to the late Brenda (Berry) and Gerald Douglas Gallup. She graduated from Mayfield High School and went on to earn an associate's degree in occupational therapy from Herkimer County Community College. She worked as an occupational therapist for 26 years at Lexington in Gloversville. She was dedicated to helping her patients and many would look forward to seeing her every day.

She loved to watch the Food Channel and cook for her friends and family. She also enjoyed listening to music and traveling. More than anything, Melissa loved her family and animals. She was one of the most compassionate people and always knew how to have a good time. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She was predeceased by her parents Gerald and Brenda Gallup.

Melissa is survived by her partner of 17 years Rick Tallon; brothers Gregory (Jill) Gallup of Mayfield, Adam Acquilla of Northville, and Douglas (Saman) Gallup of New Jersey; stepmother Kathi Allen of Fonda; nieces and nephews Joshua Gallup of NYC, Carlie Gallup of Wilton, Olivia Acquilla of Saratoga, and Carter Gallup of Wilton; aunts and uncles Darla Hine of Mayfield, Danny (Donna) Gallup of Mayfield, Dawn (Bill) Laird of Caroga Lake, Deborah Williams of Houston, and Aunt Toni of Mayfield; beloved parrot Griffey and dog Sissy; as well as numerous cousins.

In keeping with Melissa's wishes, there will be no services at this time.
