Mary Elizabeth Parsons

Mary Mitchell Parsons, 95, passed away peacefully April 30, 2016. Funeral Services celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Tuesday May 3, 2016 at the Pierce-Jefferson Funeral & Cremation Services Chapel. Graveside Services will be 1:00PM Thursday May 5, 2016 at the Cape Charles Cemetery in Cape Charles, Virginia. A native of Northampton County, Virginia, Mary was the daughter of the late Maggie Mae Doughty and James Thomas Mitchell. She was proud of her heritage through the Hog Island and Oyster Communities where she lived most of her life prior to moving to North Carolina. She is a member of the Travis Chapel United Methodist Church in Oyster where she played the piano and organ. In addition to her parents, she also was preceded in death by her husband Thomas James Parsons who died in 1994, her daughter, her sister Virginia Simpson, and her brother Wesley Mitchell. Survivors include her daughters Lois Ann Carter and Fred of Kernersville, and Carolyn Simpson and Billy of Heron, Montana; grandsons Jeffrey Robbins and Rachel, and Hunter George and Jasmine; great-grandchildren Brittany, Mary Jean, Jeffrey, Thomas, James, and William; sister Ruth West of Oyster, VA; and numerous extended family. The family will visit with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home in Kernersville on Tuesday.
