Obituary

Martin Gill, 76, life-long resident of Gloversville, passed away unexpectedly on January 5, 2025 at his home. Martin was born on August 12, 1948 in Gloversville to the late Charles Francis and Blanche (Carroll) Gill. He attended local schools, and graduated from Gloversville High School with the class of 1966.

Martin proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, primarily serving in Darmstadt, Germany. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Martin began working at the United Parcel Service in Gloversville. He worked in various positions, but primarily worked as a delivery driver in his thirty years with UPS, retiring at the age of 58.

In his retirement, Martin was an active member of the Kingsboro Golf Course in Gloversville. He was also a member of the Bleecker Fish and Game Club, and the Concordia Club. He was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville.

Martin is survived by his sister, Barbara Gill of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his cousins, Brian (Linda) Conroy of Gloversville, and Joni Wyman of Kennebunk, Maine; and by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other cousins, as well as many dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited, and may call on Wednesday, January 15, 2025 from 10:00AM until 11:00AM at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 153 South Main Street, Gloversville, NY 12078. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow the calling time at 11:00AM, with Father Nathaniel Resila presiding. A graveside service will follow in the Prospect Hill Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his parents. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to a charity of your choosing.
