Marilyn J. Smith, 90, passed away on Thursday, December 5, 2024, at Wells Nursing Home.

Born on September 26, 1934, in Johnstown, a daughter of the late Frank and Olive Cook. A lifelong resident of the area, Marilyn graduated from Fonda Central School, Class of 1953.

Marilyn retired from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office after 25 years, where she worked as a dispatcher, correctional officer and deputy. She was a member of the Town of Mohawk Auxiliary.

She loved to gamble and take her yearly trips to Maine. Most of all, Marilyn loved her family and was loving mother, grandmother, friend and will be greatly missed.

Marilyn is survived by her children, Ramona Fuhs, Ronald Smith (Margaret) and Roderick Smith; daughter in law, Laurie Smith; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; special friends and gambling partner, Cheri and Bruce Batcher.

Marilyn is predeceased by her husband, Robert Smith; her son, Ramsay Smith; sisters, Juanita Podmajerski, Mickey Ault, Frances Friers, Kay Teller and Barbara Jones.

A graveside service for Marilyn will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at 11am with Rev. Kathy Reese presiding at Evergreen Cemetery, Fonda.

Marilyn's care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 15 Main Street, Fultonville.
