With heartfelt sorrow, we announce the passing of Lorine Coger , who departed this life peacefully on May 13, 2025, at the age of 83, in Gloversville, New York.
Born on September 20, 1941, in Jacksonville, Florida, Lorine was the beloved daughter of the late Lillian M. Farmer and Willmen Allen Sr. She was a woman of great strength, quiet grace, and unwavering love for her family.
Lorine was preceded in death by her children, Anthony Coger and Wesley Coger ; her brothers, Kenneth Jenkins and Clifford Young ; and her parents. She is survived by her devoted children: Daryel Coger, Jesse Coger, Angie Porter, Annette Smith, Linda Johnson , and Jerry Hooper . She also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren , who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love, kindness, and resilience.
She is also survived by her loving siblings: Sidney J. Bellamy, Sr. of Orange Park, FL; Lillian M. Farmer , Georgia M. Brown , and Dorothy Motes , all of Jacksonville, FL; and Leroy Jenkins of New Jersey.
Lorine had a career she truly loved in health and human services , dedicating over 30 years to caring for residents with compassion, professionalism, and heart. She was deeply honored to receive recognition from the Governor of New York for her exceptional dedication and service to the profession. Her work left a lasting impact on countless lives and exemplified the very best of public service.
Beyond her career, Lorine had a deep passion for cooking and found great joy in preparing meals for her family and friends. Her kitchen was a place of warmth, comfort, and laughter. From holiday feasts to everyday favorites, she showed her love through every dish she served, always making sure no one left hungry or without a smile.
Lorine built a warm and welcoming home in Gloversville, where she was known for her nurturing nature and generous spirit. Her life was a testament to the values of family, perseverance, and compassion. She touched many lives with her wisdom and gentle strength.
Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be deeply missed and forever honored.
Your homecoming celebration will be held on Wednesday at 1 PM at the Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Funeral Home 51 Fremont St., Gloversville, 12078. A calling hour will begin at noon time.
