Linda R. Cook

November 28, 1951 — March 1, 2019

After a long battle with cancer Linda Ruth Cook 67 of Tabernash CO, went to be with the lord surrounded by her family on March 1, 2019. Linda was born in Phoenix AZ on November 28, 1951 to Charles and Hazel Hooper. Linda attended Northern Arizona University where she received Bachelors in education and a Masters in special education from Arizona State University. While attending NAU she caught the attention of her future husband Jack with her wit, long blond hair and red convertible. They would soon be happily married for the next 44 years. Together they started out life with a love of Jeeping, drinking beer and raising St. Bernard’s. Jack and Linda both began teaching in Springerville AZ, where she taught special education, loved to sew and spend time hiking as well as raising chickens, ducks and Bogart the pig on the farm they rented. Linda then migrated north to Boulder CO where she began her career at Emerald Elementary School in Broomfield, CO. She headed up the schools learning lab, working with high needs students for the next 32 years. While vacationing in Hawaii Linda learned how to scuba dive, she returned to Colorado and signed the entire family up for diver certification. This enabled the family to travel the world in search of warm weather and sunny beaches. Linda loved the mountains and the skiing, hiking, fly fishing and gardening they offered. She also loved to cook. She said it came from her southern parents from Texas and Kentucky. She particularly loved her moose that showed up at the house each year with babies and boyfriends (bulls). Linda was an avid reader and was in her element when she worked at the Fraser public library during retirement. The staff and interaction with adults and children lifted her heart. She also served on the board for the Grand County Advocates which enabled her to help others in their time of need. Linda had an unconditional faith in God that was inspirational to all she met. Her light always pointed others toward love and truth. Linda is survived by her husband Jack and two beautiful children John & Steph Cook of Fort Collins Co; Chrissy & Ben Hodgskiss of Choteau MT; One grandson John James Cook and brother Dave Hooper, of Scottsdale Az. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Grand County Advocates or the Musella Foundation for Brain Tumor Research and Information. Services will be held at the Church of the Eternal Hills in Tabernash, 100 Meadows Blvd (CR 515), April 6, 2019 at 11:00 am. CANCER SUCKS…
