Lester Roland Anderson

March 18, 1936-March 22, 2025

Lester Roland Anderson, 89, passed away on March 22, 2025 after suffering a fall at home. He had been battling leukemia and osteoporosis for several years, and his family is so happy that he is finally free of his pain and has reunited with family and friends on the other side.

Les was born on March 18, 1936 to Lester and Hazel Anderson, née Golie, at their farmhouse in Archerwill, Saskatchewan, Canada. The family moved to Havre, Montana, where he went to school and grew up. Les eventually joined the Navy and served aboard a hospital ship as a hospital corpsman (x-ray technician) during the Korean War. He loved his country and was proud to serve.

Les lived in many places throughout his life, including California, Nevada, Oregon, Idaho, Washington, Montana, and Colorado, and he made close friends everywhere he lived. He was a hard worker throughout his life, and his children were blessed to learn from his work ethic. He was a manager for Albertsons and Buttreys grocery stores, and he also had much experience in sales for Bonneau and Foster Grant sunglasses. Les loved working in the yard and enjoyed improving his surroundings wherever he lived. He was a sports fan, and was especially fond of baseball.

Les was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed serving in the temple as often as he was able. He loved his family and was blessed with 6 children, 20 grandchildren, and 41great-grandchildren.

Les is survived by four daughters from his first wife, Shirley Daniels: Karen (Mike) Loveless of North Ogden, Utah, Lora (Richard) Steed of Rocklin, California, Theresa (John) Castro of Eagle Mountain, Utah, and Judy Anderson of Anaheim Hills, California, and from his second wife, Ranae Teeples: a son, Kelly (Sherice) Anderson of Altadena, California, and a daughter, Leslie (Troy) Hunt of Johnstown, Colorado.  Les and his first wife, Shirley, had a son, Steven, who died the day he was born. Les will be buried next to Steven in the Golden Gate National Cemetery in San Bruno, California.
