Obituary

Lawrence (Spike) Richard Hamm, 56, of Amsterdam, NY, passed away on January 1, 2026 at Albany Medical Center from complications of an ongoing illness. Born on December 23, 1969 to Sharon B. Suchocki, he was raised in and attended schools in Jefferson, NY before moving to Amsterdam.

Spike was a genuine, caring man with a huge heart. He was always making sure everyone around him knew how much they were loved and would check in with all those he cared for, no matter how he may have been feeling himself.

For those who knew him, knew his greatest light in his life was his son, Zachary. The two of them shared such an incredible bond and they were best friends. Zack was Spike's pride and joy.

Spike is predeceased by his mother, Sharon B. Suchocki, his stepfather, Charles Fuerst and his his grand(parents) Ellen and Paul (Pete) Hamm.

He is survived by his son, Zachary D. Hamm (Kilie), his brother Victor Suchocki III (Marianne), his sister Charlee Fuerst and his nephew Mason Suchocki.

The family has chosen to grieve privately, with no funeral services.

A celebration of life will be held at the Johnstown Community Center on February 1, 2026.
