With thankful hearts we celebrate the life of our beloved sister, wife and mother, Laura (Ohlund) Galvan of Federal Way She peacefully passed away on October 17, 2025, after a brief illness at the age of 67. Our very special Laura was born on May 3rd, 1958, to Robert and Jane Ohlund of Graham, WA. After Laura graduated from Bethel high school in 1977, she went on to Bates Technical College and through the Division on Vocational Rehabilitation program, (DVR), received certification course in clerical work. She was very proud of her accomplishment. It also brought Laura and Dad close together as they traveled to and from Tacoma on weekdays.
After graduation from the program, Laura enjoyed working at Pizza Hut, and later as the Recreational Assistant at Puyallup Manor Convalescent Center. Laura also loved going to “Group” where they did crafts, learned basic independent living skill. That is where she met her husband, Daniel R. Galvan. They were married on February 13, 1988.
Laura was a diligent writer and loved to write in daily journals talking about family events and writing out many Bible verses. She was always sweet and loved Jesus.
She became a resident of Valley Community Inn located in Puyallup and lived there for many years until she moved to First Magnolia Adult Family Home where she was treated like family. She loved First Magnolia! Laura was wonderful at staying in connection with family by phone. In fact, she would call family members six or seven times a day! It was amazing how she always called during dinner – no matter the time of day.
Laura was predeceased by her father Robert and brother-in-law, Eduardo Mata. She is survived by husband Daniel Richard Galvan, son Dan Galvan, Mother Jane Ohlund, Sisters Karen Rudman (Ken), Diana Grijalva (Ciro), and Anita Mata.
A Celebration of Laura’s life will be held at The Ridge Bible Church (https://www.theridgebiblechurch.com/) 10609 234th St E, Graham, WA 98338 on November 15, at 1:00pm with a reception to follow.
The family would like to express gratitude to all the caregivers at First Magnolia Adult Family Home. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Salvation Army
