In Loving Memory of Dr. Laura Ann BixlerSeptember 21, 1967 – May 21, 2025
With heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Laura Ann Bixler, beloved daughter, mother, mentor, and friend, who left us on May 21, 2025, at the age of 57 due to natural causes.
Laura was a gifted educator, a lifelong learner, and a guiding light to all who knew her. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from East Carolina University, followed by a Master’s in English from Norfolk State University, and ultimately achieved her Doctorate in Education from Arizona State University — a testament to her unyielding dedication to knowledge and personal growth.
Laura shared her passion for language and literature through many years of teaching. She inspired young minds through encouraging them to reach their fullest potential in the classrooms of Norview and Great Bridge High Schools, later bringing that same energy and motivation to students at Maricopa Community College. Her journey later led her to serve as Director of Finance for DBAA Structural Engineering, where her leadership and intellect continued to shine.
Laura’s heart belonged to education and to every student who walked through her doors. She was more than a teacher — she was a mentor, a motivator, and a source of unwavering support. Her ability to see potential in others helped countless individuals thrive and pursue their dreams. Loved deeply by her students, colleagues, and community, Laura left a mark that will never fade. Her impact, influence and incredible legacy will live on forever.
Outside of her professional life, Laura was an avid sewer and knitter, known for creating beautiful handmade pieces with love. She found peace sitting on the porch, watching the sunset — moments of stillness that reflected the gentle, thoughtful nature of her spirit.
Laura is survived by William David Bixler, Kylo Ren Bixler, William Harold Holbert, Anabel Portello, Katrina Rowson, and Jhordynn Rowson, who carry forward her legacy of love, strength, and wisdom.
A casual, short, non-denominational funeral service will be held on June 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Messenger Mortuary, located at 8555 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Scottsdale, AZ 85255, with a reception to follow. All friends, family, and loved ones are welcome to attend and celebrate the beautiful life Laura led.
Laura Ann Bixler's light lives on in every student she inspired, every life she touched, and every heart she filled with love. She will be missed deeply and remembered always.
