Lanita Susan McCafferty
2/11/1960 to 6/1/24
From Misty, Lanita’s daughter:
It is with profound sadness that I share the tragic passing of my beloved Mother, Lanita McCafferty who left us on June 1, 2024, at the young age of 64. She has fought a hard battle with kidney disease the past few years. She is one of the toughest people I know. She has fought the good fight and is now in Paradise with Jesus and her family that preceded before her. She is no longer in pain and has a forever home in Heaven!
Lanita was always full of love, laughter, and was very resilient. She had a spunky personality and people loved that about her. She touched the lives of all who knew her, she was a woman of immense humor and wisdom, cherishing every moment spent with her loved ones.
Lanita aka Grandma Ghostbuster loved her grandkids so much and was so dedicated to Hailey and Zachary. She was present at every event in their lives, she never missed a swim class or school performance and loved helping with homework and cooking for them. Lanita was very creative and crafty too. They have spent endless hours doing crafts and just having a good time. They were completely spoiled by Grandma Ghostbuster!
Lanita will be profoundly missed, and her absence leaves a huge void in our hearts and lives, and we will never be the same. Her spirit continues to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
Excerpt from her sister Sandra: Lanita was a very classy, beautiful woman. She had beautiful clothes, beautiful hair throughout her lifetime and just portrayed herself in a very loving way towards the people she surrounded herself with. The doctors and nurses loved her spunkiness and made them laugh and delight in her. She had a very infectious smile that made everyone fall in love with her, especially during the last 7 months she spent in the hospital. Even her doctors shed some tears knowing that she was going to pass once she made the decision to stop all life support.
My sister’s greatest joy in life was her daughter Misty, and her two grandchildren, Hailey and Zachary. And she loved Marcus, her son-in-law, so very much, and loved giving him a hard time! They had an awesome unique relationship. I feel very blessed knowing Lanita was surrounded by so much love and support over the years! Lanita and I would talk for 2 hours on the phone sometimes. Most of our conversations were always talking about Hailey and Zachary and all the stuff they were doing; the sports and swimming Hailey was involved in and just how incredibly smart and funny they were. Her grandkids were her greatest joy! We always had a great time talking on the phone. I am going to miss our talks!
My sister is now in her glorified body given in Heaven and is without pain and sickness. I am at peace knowing she is surrounded by Perfect Love, Jesus! She is also with our parents and so many others that have gone to Heaven before her.
We want to thank everyone that has reached out to Misty and her family. And for the countless hours Lanita’s friends and family visited her in the hospital; and for the ones who couldn’t visit we thank you for your prayers and special words of encouragement and love. You are all so very special! Thank you!
