Kenneth Race

Ken Race of Eugene, Oregon passed away on September 17, 2024 at the age of 82.  He was the oldest of 4 children born to Lester and Gloria Race on May 18, 1942 in Orchard, Nebraska.  Ken attended South Eugene High School where he played the tuba in band class.  He met the love of his life, Susan McClure, on a blind date in 1961.  They enjoyed a 62-year long marriage.

Ken spent most of his working years as a food broker selling grocery food products to wholesalers and distributors.

He had many hobbies during his lifetime including fishing, camping, houseboating, water skiing, and golfing.  He often entertained family and friends with his crazy trick water skiing.

Ken is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Jennifer and her husband Blake, daughter Julie and her husband Bill, granddaughter Kristen and her husband Mikey, one great-grandson Carter, brothers Vern and Randy, and a large extended family.  He was a very compassionate man with a great sense of humor who will be greatly missed by all.

Per Ken’s wishes there will be no services held, but donations in his honor to the Pete Moore Hospice House are welcome.
