Obituary

Kathleen J. Riley entered eternal rest on December 23, 2025 at Ellis hospital following a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Jennie (Quackenbush) Foody and Kenneth Foody.

Kathy, as she preferred to be called, graduated from Fonda Fultonville Central School District in 1965. She grew up in Fultonville, and resided in Johnstown most of her life. She began working for the New York State DMV in December 1965 and worked until February 1972, when she married (1970) and started a family. She went back to work for Fulton Co. DSS in 1979 when her youngest daughter started school. She retired from Fulton County in January 2004. She was also employed at Jamesway and Walmart in the early to late 90's.

Kathy loved Elvis, loved to read and loved to crochet - even winning ribbons at the fair for the afghans she crocheted. Most of all she loved her family - her daughters and grandson were her whole life.

Kathy is survived by her two daughters Jennifer Lander and Carrie Riley, as well as her bonus daughter Lisa Vanderhoof; grandson William Lander, III; grand-kitties Scooter Joy, and Sunny; sisters Robin (Terry) Horton and Kristy (Mike) Flansburg; nieces Melissa (Josh) Roser, Ashley (Dan Rooney) Horton, Lacy (Brad) Barkley-Anderson and Sarah (Mike Majewski) Barkley; as well as several great nieces and nephews.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents Jennie Quackenbush Foody in 1974 and Kenneth Foody in 1978 and her sister Darla Billington in 2023.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Kathy's memory may be made to Kitten Angels 233 Houseman Street Mayfield, NY 12117.

The family has chosen to remember Kathy's life privately at this time, and there are no services.
