January 16, 1929 — January 28, 2026

On January 28, 2026, Joyce Edith Ricker passed away peacefully at the age of 97, in Tualatin, Oregon.  Joyce was born in Portland, OR, spending her early years in San Angelo, TX, Hood River and Bend, OR.  Joyce graduated from Corvallis High School.  She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Oregon, where she was an active member of the Alpha Phi sorority.  Shortly after college she married George Knab, then gave birth to her two sons, David and John (Jay).  Several years later, she married her second husband, Wallace Ricker.  They resided in Lake Oswego until his death in 1994.  With their union, their daughters Patricia and Amy were born.  In Lake Oswego, Joyce could be found following her calling as a teacher.  This was as a substitute teacher in Lake Oswego Public Schools or teaching sewing lessons at June’s Fabric shop or in her home for private students.  In her twilight years, you would catch her dancing anytime music was played, tinkering with puzzles, or simply helping with and caring for others in need.  Joyce is survived by her children; David, Jay, Patti and Amy, her grandchildren; Sara, Colton, Jeffrey, Amanda and Sean, and her great-grandchildren; Grayson, Calvin and Holly Jo.
