IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Josephine F.
Van O'Linda
April 19, 1926 – February 12, 2026
Josephine F. Van O'Linda, 99, passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026 at Wilkinson Residential Healthcare Facility surrounded by her loving family.
"Jo" was born in Fort Johnson on April 19, 1926 to Natalie and John Taboleski. She was a proud graduate of Cohoes High School class of 1944. She was employed by the Greater Amsterdam School District for over 35 years where she was affectionately known as the "cafeteria lady" before her retirement in 2003.
In her spare time Jo enjoyed playing in bowling and volleyball leagues, and her walking club. After her retirement, she loved tending her garden, which was a testament to her patience and care, filled with vibrant flowers and the vegetables that would eventually find their way to her dinner table. Her family was the true center of her world, she loved her children and grandchildren dearly.
As a devoted member of St. Lukes Evangelical Lutheran Church she gave her time, her hands and her heart to the congregation she loved. Whether helping with church events or supporting others through simple acts of care, she lived her beliefs with sincerity and grace.
On April 15, 1951, she was married to Seward Van O'Linda, who passed away in 2020. Jo is survived by her daughters Deborah (Grant) Humphreys, Lori (Michael) Bryk, sons Mark (Marcia), Brian (Karen), and Tracy (Nikki). Also survived by seven grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, her sister Lillian Zippiere, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers Barney, Steve, Lee, Robert and sisters Helen Sorel, Mary Taboleski, Katherine Weakley, and Florence McMartin.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home 171 Guy Park Avenue Amsterdam, NY from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. A funeral service will take place at 1:30 PM with Rev. Dr. John A. Califano officiating. Burial will take place at Fairview Cemetery in the spring.
